Who Is She

Few women in gospel music have been gifted with the ability to make the saxophone sing.  One of those anointed players is Rev. Dr. Ginger Cornwell.  Known in gospel music circles as a spirit-filled instrumentalist, Ginger has the uncanny ability to summon the presence of God with only a few blows of her sacred saxophone. Having ministered musically at countless events, Ginger has seen God’s people healed, delivered and set free through the melodies she’s been given.

Ginger is an international saxophonist, vocalist, speaker, photographer, recording artist, funeral coordinator, talk show host, writer, producer, music teacher and marketing specialist.  She is the Chair of Christian Education for Miracle Fellowship Gospel Ministries, Inc and an Associate Pastor with Rehoboth New Life Church Alliance.  She has ministered as a saxophonist, vocal soloist and speaker at numerous places.  She sang with The Voices of Ebenezer AME Church under the direction of the late Rev. Dr. Donald Vails and the Prince of Praise, Minister Byron Cage.  She also sang with The Inspirational Sounds of Joy of Gethsemane United Methodist Church under the direction of Evangelist Jacqueline Stevens.  Ginger has participated in pastor’s anniversaries, women’s retreats, funerals, weddings, and concerts. Some of the prestigious venues she’s performed at include the Dedication Ceremony for the Ocean Cheonjeong Palace in Gemundo Korea, the Pre-election Prayer Service for Washington, D.C.'s Mayor Vincent Gray, The Duke Ellington Theater, The Kennedy Center, and The United States House of Representatives Rayburn Building.

Along with recording spoken word CDs, she also completed her first musical CD, A Change Has Come Over Me, a reference to the spiritual and physical healing she’s experienced. Fans have been raving about her rendition of the popular worship track, “Praise Is What I Do”, a perennial request at her live engagements. Produced by Ginger and her husband, Martin Cornwell, known for his work as lead guitarist and band leader of R&B legends Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, the CD is an instrumental and spoken word collection from the heart of the artist.

In addition, because she is a Lupus survivor she has created "SUPUL - Reverse Lupus", a program designed to assist Lupus patients. Ginger also is a former WYCB radio Talk Show Host, and currently the Producer and Talk Show Host for the award-winning “Sing To The King Gospel Artist Showcase” television broadcast and “A Pinch Of Ginger Radio Talk Show”.

Dr. Ginger believes that music is a gift from God and that through it people can be inspired and uplifted to higher heights. Believing that individuals just need a little push or jumpstart to get them going, she’s chosen to be that impetus for others. She also believes that music is therapeutic, has healing power, and assists in the development of more rounded and grounded individuals.

Her goal is, through the ministry of music and with the word of God, to teach everyone she can that they already have everything they need to fix life's situations and circumstances – with the power of God, accomplishing anything they want to. With the love of God in her heart and a saxophone by her side, Dr. Ginger Cornwell is simply Reaching For The World.
